Did you know that Harford County includes 20 different islands, mostly located in the Susquehanna River? Just a few of the many other notable outdoor spaces in the county include Rocks State Park, Eden Mill Park Nature Center & Historic Grist Mill, and Maryland’s second highest waterfall at the Kilgore Falls/Falling Branch Area Park. Try mountain biking on the trails at Susquehanna State Park, or wander serenely though the extensive gardens and amazing topiary sculptures at Ladew Topiary Gardens, or spend an afternoon tasting wine at one of the county’s many vineyards.
Charm abounds in historic Havre de Grace, located where the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay. Here, you can see the Concord Point Lighthouse, visit the Maritime Museum and Decoy Museum, shop for antiques, stroll down the boardwalk promenade, and enjoy fine dining. Be sure to try some delicious homemade Bomboy’s chocolates and ice cream here as well! Havre de Grace is also the home of Arts by the Bay Gallery, named “Best Art Gallery” in the county by Harford Magazine for 2016.
You’ll find many shopping, entertainment and dining options in the county seat of Bel Air, from the Harford Mall to small shops downtown, and from lively pubs on Main Street to the family-owned Broom’s Bloom Dairy, where you can stop in for lunch and a homemade ice cream treat just a few minutes outside of town. The annual Harford County Farm Fair takes place here every summer, at the Equestrian Center just minutes from downtown Bel Air.
